Six Months Old

Dear Mallory,
Today you are six months old.
I cannot believe you are halfway to a year. You've experienced two changes of season, an airplane ride, the beach, real food and through it all have been an amazingly sweet and pleasant baby. The other night I was making a snack and looked down onto the kitchen floor where a stuffed zebra laid face down on the linoleum. You were already fast asleep, but there it was. Proof that a baby lives in our home.
A year ago, it scared me to think of how your presence would alter our life. It has and we're so grateful. I'm so happy to live in a home where stuffed animals reside on the kitchen floor and every room has at least three teething rings, a boppy and a spit-up rag. The house was such an empty place before you came here…everything neutral brown, black and gray. We now have bright punches of color in every room. We have a separate load of laundry (mostly pink) each week. We now have full, happy hearts.
Love,
Mama
